.:: Good times ahead ::.
We have had a bit of a disaster time lately, I had a second operation on my head because I had been dripping fluid from the first operation scar for over 8 weeks. About a week after that, the fluid started to drip again out of the new scar so they gave me another operation on Tuesday 24th June. I have now had three operations and another one due when I return from Europe.
The reason is that I had an infection, that infection happened during my first operation seven months ago when I had my brain aneurism.
They thought at first that the leakage was from the inner stitches not dissolving properly and it was not until Wednesday June 25th they found out what the problem was. That was around two and a half months after the leakage began. I was very upset about that.
Meantime I now have a large piece of my scull bone missing as it was infected so they discarded it. That hole will be sealed with a titanium plate later on in about three months time.
The worst thing that has happened to us is that my wife Sue, who was also at the Wellington hospital so she could take care of me, had a stroke last Friday 27th June. We were then both lying in the same hospital and I was moved to her ward to be close together. I thought that was a nice thing to do by them. Anyway, we were both flown home to Blenheim yesterday although Sue is in the local hospital now but at least one of us is home.
Sue has had a minor stroke, but is unable to walk due to her balance being affected. That will come right again we were told so that is all good news. For now we are both in recovery mode and my stitches come out tomorrow and we also hope to be ok within 6 weeks as that is when our holiday starts.
